Fluxport expands rail freight coverage across Central Asia

Fluxport has announced the launch of a new rail freight corridor connecting Almaty to major European hubs, extending the company's Central Asia coverage and cutting transit times by up to 30% for clients moving high-volume cargo between Asia and the EU.
The new route runs through Kazakhstan and Georgia before connecting into existing European rail infrastructure, offering a faster and more cost-effective alternative to traditional sea freight for businesses shipping between the two regions.
For shippers currently relying on ocean freight, which typically takes 35–40 days door to door on comparable lanes, the new rail corridor reduces transit time to approximately 18–22 days depending on final destination.
"Central Asia has been an underserved corridor for too long," said Miriam Osei, Chief Operations Officer at Fluxport. "Rail freight gives our clients a genuine middle ground between the speed of air and the cost of sea, and this route in particular opens up markets that have historically been difficult to serve reliably."
A process built on precision
The corridor is the result of an 18-month route development process, during which Fluxport's partnerships team identified and onboarded rail operators across three countries, established customs protocols for multiple border crossings, and ran a series of pilot shipments to validate transit times and reliability before commercial launch.
Fitting a larger strategic picture
The expansion forms part of Fluxport's broader strategy to strengthen Europe–Asia trade corridors, an area the company has prioritized following sustained client demand for alternatives to congested shipping lanes and volatile air freight pricing. Rail freight also carries a significantly lower carbon footprint than both road and air transport, aligning with Fluxport's published net-zero target.
Booking the new corridor
Clients moving cargo between China, Central Asia, and Europe can now book the new corridor directly through the Fluxport platform, with full tracking and milestone alerts available from departure to final delivery.
The company plans to announce further Central Asia network expansion later this year.
